MEMBERSHIP DEFINITIONS

ACTIVE MEMBERS:

  • Only active members shall have the right to vote or hold office.
  • To remain in good standing an active member must pay their dues.

AFFILIATE MEMBERS:

  • Members of related medical specialties who are properly trained and recognized in their fields and who are nominated by the Board of Trustees and elected by the general membership. Affiliate members shall not be entitled to vote on matters pertaining to the business of the Society. They shall, however, enjoy all other rights and privileges of membership.

HONORARY MEMBERS:

  • The Executive Committee may, acting independently and without the formal approval of the general membership, appoint individuals as honorary members of the Society. It is understood that these members need not be nurses. It has been the custom to appoint all individuals who participate as principal speakers honorary members of the Society.

EMERITUS MEMBERS:

  • A member in good standing may achieve Emeritus status at age 65 years or upon his permanent retirement from active practice at the discretion of the Board.

INACTIVE/LEAVE OF ABSENCE:

  • Inactive status may be granted for a one (1) year period by the Executive Committee. A member so excused need not pay dues or other assessments during that year. The leave of absence may be extended at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
